HISTORY

The Hassayampa River has a long history with many cultures of indigenous people.
In the late 1500's the Spanish were reportedly in the Bradshaw area.  During the
1820's fur trappers & traders were known to have visited the area.  By the 1860's
gold had been discovered & mining communities had sprung up in the region.
During the Rich Hill Az discoveries the natural progression was moving into the
Hassayampa River & it's tributaries.  The evidence still exists in the form of tailing
piles on a small portion of the upper claims.  Little evidence remains in the duration
of the 4 mile stretch of flood plain.  You will find more details in the Geology
 reports below.
